The Storm before the Calm..

What an eloquent testimony to the murderous logic of war and destruction practiced by the Israeli Demolition Forces. Fourty-eight hours before the agreed upon cessation of hostilities and the israelis unleash their widest and wildest military effort to date, with the sole purpose of destroying as much as they possibly can before they temporarily muffle their guns and let the dust settle over the dead bodies of the South.

I wonder what kind of ill-conceived and ill-expressed justifications the rabid israeli supporters have in store to defend themselves and their actions. For that's what the poor souls of Tel-Aviv have spent most of their affected existences doing, defend themselves against the unmeasured aggression of the Arab Beast. The Arab beast who, like myself, naively believes that when a cease-fire is accepted by willing parties, it is to be implemented IMMEDIATELY, because there are hundreds of thousands of people in dire need for help and humanitarian aid. This, however, is only true of nations that respect human life and attend to human suffering. The Israeli government and its sympathizers are of course innocent of such accusations. For THEY are the only ones who die, THEY are the only ones who suffer, THEY are the only ones constantly on the defensive against widespread antisemitism, and THEY are the perpetual scapegoats of humanity, constantly trying to proclaim their right to exist with freedom and peace in their land, the land of figs and olives, the land of prophets and blood.

One has to admit, though, that being God's chosen people is not an easy feat, in a world rampant with angry envious non-chosens who seek to steal the chosen's heavenly title and promised land.

It's 5.23 am here in Beirut and I cannot sleep. I'm too nervous, I guess. Apprehensive. Edgy. In less than three hours both the Hizzies and the Izzies are supposed to cease their hostilities.
May all the forces be with us....

God chosen people? Hmm, I think they missed the train and are now waiting at the station for the Messiah to arrive - forever.
As for the Muslims, they had their smooth ride some 1500 years ago but neglected to maintain their railroad system ever since.
Both parties are stuck, no movement.
A ceasefire? We'll see...
The only hope I have for Lebanon is a miracle, a miracle that includes enormous amount of effort of the Lebanese people, an effort that has not written Hezbollah all over it but will be uniquely and solely called LEBANESE!

poul,

"hundreds of diplomats argued for eternity about every comma in that UN resolution"

what nonsense. so they argued for eternity, true, but they finally did reach a consensus for an IMMEDIATE cease fire a couple of days before the actual event actually took place. your thoughts?

and if you're so knowledgeble in the logic of cease fire resolutions, why dont you enlighten us with your views on why Israel broke the truce after only hours after it was implemented?

and fouad, thank you for disallowing profile pics, poul's is appalling.

your sense of humor is delightful poul. Of course! BECAUSE it took so long to get to a ceasefire resolution until the last comma was discusses, while people were dying i so many different ways, it makes PERFECT SENSE that once the draft was reached and agreed upon, to wait at least 48 more hours for the israelis to finish the south and its people off. What makes better sense than that? Obviously nothing. Well, poul, you can keep your traditional logic lessons to yourself and those with convoluted bitter and bigoted minds like yours.

oh and by the way, I did not pick a fight with Israel, fool.. I'm sorry, poul, if it were up to me I would have left that pile of shi.. I'm sorry roses right where it belongs. We have enough roses on the inside to keep us busy for more years than I care to count.
