Words to Live by

A wise wise young woman spontaneously told me this today, trying to cheer me up:

"ma te7mol saleebak bil 3ared"

which translates to

"Don't carry your cross sideways"

Ma te7mol saleebak bil 3ared... All of life in five words and a nutshell.

The truest, simplest kind of philosophy. Words to live by indeed.

Not sure I got it in the sense that she meant it, but my God, if all religions were practiced without screwing around with their core then the world would be so much better off. No religion at all is so much better that what we're dealing with these days.

I thought the lebanese saying is about a ladder, not a cross.

you thought right, gus. And that's the whole point. A cross is much better than a lasser because we have a cross to carry anyway, so why on earth carry it sideways and add insult to injury.
