I Am No Optimist

It is a sad world we live in, and I am no optimist. You would think I am, but you'd be mistaken. Look at me. I am a walking eventual feast for a swarm of maggots and arthropods. And so are you. Find the optimism in that if you can.

You can't.

But what you can find are eyes looking to see beyond the sadness, beyond the cruelty of God and his creatures, beyond the evil of Man and his kind. Eyes looking to find, naked, strangled, struggling through winter death, the April tree that every living cycle, miraculously sprouts a million leaves, all new, all perfect, all impossibly green.

I am no optimist, my friends. But I have learned what wars to fight, when to let go, and how to look for heaven in the darkest, loneliest corners of hell.

Good for you.
Some people live all their lives without learning an iota of that...

I am an optimist I believe there is good in every one, that someday there will be no wars no evil. I realize the cruelty that lives in man yet i've also seen the good and can't ignore it. I know i'm a dreamer but then again once upon a time I also believed in the tooth fairy and santa claus.

but there is a loveliness in dissolving into the earth-- one larval mouthful at a time! are feasts ever negative? at least the worms are having a party... :)

i think you're right fouad; looking for a bit of green helps keep inspiration this side of sadness.

"You can't."
The maggots will in turn fertilize the soil that will embrace the roots of an everlasting evergreen. My optimism is limitless.

...but enough teshweesh.

Good one, Fouad.

see? you are an optimist and everybody agrees. only an optimist would still believe in a God even when he still calls him cruel. nice try :)

Optimism and pessimism are two faces for the same coin my friend. If you belong to that ?world where people's fates depend on the flip of that coin, then you are entitled to say ?that you are not an optimist. I have realized a while ago that I do not belong to that world.?

I don't envy them, Deli.

Mia, I hope you'll never change.

Are they really fz? free drinks? :)

Ah Jimmy, n'importe quoi.. great 2al..

Jamal, oh limitless optimistic (?), I would reconsider the everlasting part of the evergreens, bass ma baddeh shawwesh :)

So the fact that there's a God and that he is cruel makes me an optimist ya mirvat? An evil superpower computes to a glass half full? ma fhemet..

Which is your world RA?

To explain briefly, it is not "my" world. It is the world that already exists, existed, and will exist. A world which is "always" "already" there. Uninvented.

Don't get me wrong Fouad, I am not criticizing you. I think that your words and work point directly to what I am saying. The fact that you mention maggots says that you are aware of the world we live in, and that is why your words touch each of us, because they touch upon the truth of our being.
